So she left without telling it? Well I hadn't realized that. Sorry Rig, but it's grievance is fair. Reap what you sow.

@VandanDrumist Surely you just? Deadwood is both physically and emotionally abusive. Had she told it they would have torn out her heart and waved it in front of her for a bit while breaking her down verbally. She might have betrayed Deadwood, but Deadwood is no friend to her, it is highly abusive and self interested. If it was no so wretched it surely could have attracted a familiar before now, immortality is a powerful lure when death stalks all things. If this tree was giving once its heart has long since turned black.

But yea, I mean I would be pissed too I'd she left me high and dry after investing all that time and energy into her. Not even a card at Christmas time? That is cold Rig.

@Frost Fox: This whole thing started because Deadwood didn't want to consume her due to her illness. Deadwood might be abusive, but for something that is supposed to be evil, he gave her a fair shake. And he called her several times on the isolation factor. Deadwood made it perfectly clear on a number of occasions that she had to stay in his forest to stay alive. She committed to keeping him fed, and she repaid that vow by running off. I... kinda don't blame Deadwoods wrath right now. All the rules to this relationship were made clear. Plus... no Christmas card. Just Not Done.

On the other hand... given Deadwoods references to eternity... there is hope he is considering keeping her alive. Probably on a much shorter leash, though.

@Frost Fox: I agree with @Metis here. Deadwood might not be warm and cuddly but he is also literally a DEMON. I'm pretty sure Rig knew what she was getting into. And it's not like Rig isn't perfectly willing to kill others to stay alive (think of all the poor little bunnies!). So I think the moral highground is lost right there. They made a deal and while Deadwood kept to the terms (and more! He let Fen into the woods, gave Rig extra powers to defeat Eckhart etc etc) Rig abandoned him at the first opportunity. 100% on tree-boy's side here

@Songdog
I believe there is a typo in the first panel.
I almost didn't notice it but something seemed off.

I love your comics! Keep up the great work!
